Hi everyone!
It will be February 18th when I’m posting this and I’m really trying to figure out what my chances are of getting housing since i know it is very late to put a deposit down. I am an out of state freshman and i did get into the honors college (though I’m not sure if there is separate honors housing) and I’m basically trying to see if a have a good shot at getting housing at this point since i can’t go to auburn if i don’t get on campus housing. Thanks for your time!!
Some of my sons friends didn’t put in their housing application until late (around Feb) and they did get campus housing (on the Hill), however that was 5 years ago.
I will say as a mom who was terrified of letting my son move off campus his Junior year, i wish now I had let him move off Sophomore year when most kids do. The area is safe and Tiger Transit hits all the apartments.
Where you live in Auburn will have little to do with your comfort level as much as “who” you live with. That is hit or miss in the dorms as much as it is in off-campus housing.
Good luck and War Eagle!
@collegeq8642, I can’t say what the likelihood of getting housing is at this point (the housing website says they are putting people on standby status now), but there are two honors dorms - one in the Quad and one in the Village, and there was something on the application where you could say if you were interested in Honors housing. If you get put on standby status, you can be offered a spot if others cancel their spot. My daughter went totally random in an honors dorm (she’s in the Village, which is four to a suite), and when she was sent the names of her other roommates, three of them started a group chat and the fourth never responded. Apparently that fourth person ended up not attending Auburn, because at some point they were notified that there was another girl rooming with them who was taken from the standby list. They all got along fine and are having a good year! But be advised that off-campus apartments for next year are starting to fill up, too, so you might want to contact the housing office to see what your standby chances are so you can look elsewhere if necessary.
