I'm from New York and would like to stay on the East coast. I was originally thinking of schools such as Auburn University, Cornell University, North Carolina State University, Florida State University, and the University of Florida, however, the more research I do, the more I see posts on how schools such as UMass Amherst and Becker College have great Pre-Vet programs. What schools would give me the best chances to get into Vet school in the future?

Auburn: Safety
UNC is a reach for you.

We don’t know if Auburn is a safety for this student. We don’t know how much the family will pay each year. If the parents won’t happily pay $40k+ per year for an OOS public, then this school cannot be a safety.

Sorry, I somehow assumed this student won’t be applying for FA…

Price is no issue for me or my family.

Consider adding University of Delaware to your list and also Michigan State- not on the east coast but about the same distance by plane from your home as the ones in the south. Clemson, SC has an animal science major as well.

Michigan State has a smaller program- Lyman Briggs for science majors- I am not familiar with it but you might want to look into it.

One can be admitted to veterinary school from any college. It depends more on your qualifications as an applicant and meeting the qualifications of the vet school. If your college has a pre-vet club and pre-vet advisers, they can help you select the classes you need.

Also look at Mississippi State. They have one of the best pre-veterinary programs in the country! But beware because other than that, it’s not a great school. Here’s a list of schools from easiest to hardest for you:
NC State
Florida State
Auburn
Florida
Cornell
UNC Chapel Hill (actually harder to get in out of state than to get into Cornell, reported in NY Times).
Probably would get scholarships from first three as well!

I think you’ll likely need higher scores for scholarship money from Auburn. You may still have time to retake act/sat, not sure but check school admission/scholarship requirements.
