Auburn University Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

For those who haven’t seen it: Undergraduate Admissions | Auburn University

For those who were really hoping for Auburn, there is still hope as it says “should space become available for the fall, students admitted for the spring will receive priority consideration for fall enrollment.”

I think a lot of students, including mine, will be declining so good luck to those accepting!

Thanks for sharing.

This part is tough for Spring admits. Most would already have found leases or sublets by November. Not having on campus dorm functions and supports would be hard for some.

Spring housing is available to students enrolled at Auburn University for the spring term on a first come, first served basis. The spring housing application will be available Monday, November 1, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. (CST) for the upcoming spring semester. Spring 2022 dates are listed below.

For those who have students who were accepted for Spring 2023, were they originally deferred? When did they apply?

My son was originally deferred. I would have preferred fall, however, he could take some general Ed classes locally and have them transfer. Starting one semester later is not a huge deal. They have their whole life ahead of them.

It’s interesting that U of Alabama didn’t seem to defer applicants. Is this the first year with a heavy spring entrance pool? It works at a lot of universities, especially in conjunction with the local CC.

Auburn is becoming more like Clemson.

Mine applied EA, was deferred, and then received the Spring admission.

My OOS son was accepted for Fall22 through RD. Without merit, it’s not a viable option. I called and they don’t re-allocate merit given to students who decide to go elsewhere. They will re-allocate departmental scholarships after May 1st. Student needs to complete Ausom app.

It’s my understanding that Auburn received a crazy number of applications this year which is likely what caused the change. By the end of December they already had ~40000 applications.

I feel like spring start would be difficult if students don’t do Community College because for some major specific courses they are only offered 1 semester each year so being a semester behind could really throw a student off.

Now that all the decisions are in, does anyone have an idea of what the final acceptance rate was for students who applied for 2023…or if/when Auburn releases that info? A quick google search shows 85% acceptance rate for AU, but this year is obviously going to be much lower. I suspect it’s more than the 24% it was for the first 2 early rounds, but I don’t think it’s going to be very high!

What? That is crazy with those stats. What program did you apply to?

Oh, I didn’t read all they way through to see that was a spoof post. Got me.

I have to think Auburn is either intentionally bringing in less freshman as it increases housing capacity or they feel their yield is going to remain pretty high. My son was accepted at NC State, Virginia Tech and Clemson, declined at Auburn. That is upside down of what is traditional and what he expected. It will be interesting to see it’s stats this year. First year on Common App for Auburn had to be challenging estimating yield.

I agree that the final numbers will be interesting this year.

Was this year the first Auburn was on the Common App?

It’s been a crazy ride this year! My S22 was accepted at NC State, waitlisted at VT, rejected from Clemson & offered Spring start at Auburn. :woman_shrugging:

So interesting to see what is happening with Auburn this year.

My daughter was accepted into CS, honors program at Auburn. But we are in state so she considered it her “safety.” She received the highest merit scholarship based on scores and also received merit scholarship from engineering department.

She was also nominated by her high school for Park scholarship at NC State. She made it to semifinalist but not past. Also admitted to honors. But NC State isn’t known to give money to OOS. And when we compare costs, it just doesn’t make sense to go to NC State.

Trying to convince her to give Auburn a closer look! (Still waiting to hear from other schools in RD and was deterred at Georgia Tech.)

Same. Daughter was offered 2+2 at Penn State, CAP’d at UT, Spring semester at Auburn, still waiting on deferrals from Wisconsin and Ohio State (lord knows what whacky decisions will come from them).
