Auburn University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

What do you mean that your son is a Presidential Scholar? Did he already receive the award notification?

No, sorry, he just fits the applicant profile. Because I have twins, once my son was accepted I called to make sure wasn’t an issue with his sister’s app (they submitted the same day) and our admissions counselor said that they were told to release acceptance letters for students who were “Presidential” every Friday. His sister was mad bc she missed it by one point - LOL!

He has not received notification of an award yet (it still gives an error message in the portal if we click on awards).

I did find that those accepted this past week will receive more info about housing and it’ll be early Dec even they can register however I think they have to set up an Auburn email to do so. The intent to enroll is for my May 1st. I thought I read it’s better to do this even if you aren’t sure but I can’t seem to find that again on their website. I need to look at my daughters portal as I have not test done so.

We have a similar question (and concern) about the broadcasting program. How did you find a number online that showed roughly how many of the kids moved from year 1 to year 2? Wondering if I could find something similar for broadcasting/tv production?

This is a repost of my previous so that you don’t have to go back searching

Our son Class of 2026 was accepted OOS AU Pre-Nursing 2 years ago and decided to stay in Florida in a Nursing “Freshman Direct Admit” program. We did a deep dive on AU Nursing 2 years ago using 2021 numbers. In 2021 it was “somewhat” competitive. If you have a 3.5 GPA and a MANDATORY 3.5 GPA in your Pre-Nursing classes you are IN. Nothing BELOW a 'B" in Pre-Nursing Classes IS POLICY. Selections are made late Sophomore year. Additionally the Nursing School likes to see “shadowing” during the Freshman Summer. Just makes the application more competitive. We also were not impressed that there was no “MEGA Medical Center” or Hospital Campus in the area, making driving everywhere for clinicals during Junior/Senior years a must.

If you google Auburn Fact Book you’ll find some data reporting by them around enrollment by program.
I’m not sure where I found the class size of second year kids (might have been something in the department literature).
B.Arch programs have a pretty high attrition rate in general. If Auburn had been at the top of S23’s list it wouldn’t have worried me TOO much but was definitely a consideration in weighing out the acceptances.

My son got the text

My son got notification of Presidential Scholarship this morning but it lists two different amounts–$15K in one place and $17K in another. Anyone else with the same issue? I’m having him reach out to admissions to clarify but curious if it’s a systemic issue or just him.

Where was he notified? In his portal? If so, do you know where? S24 has been checking for notification of any merit and hasn’t seen anything yet, but hasn’t checked in a couple days. Want to make sure he isn’t looking in the wrong place

He received an email in his Auburn email but then could see it in the portal after he logged in.

Where does he see it in the portal? My daughter received the email but we don’t see anything in the portal

I’m getting really bummed about this merit aid situation. I led my son to believe it was virtually assured based on his stats and now i’m having serious doubts. It sucks because we definitely cannot afford for him to attend Auburn without it. Even with it it’s going to be difficult.

He had to click around in the portal to find it but I wasn’t watching the whole time while he did it so I’m not sure on details. I think there was a link in the email and that took you somewhere but then he had to click somewhere else from there? It was definitely buried a bit.

Yeah I had heard that Auburn is not “auto merit” like a lot of other schools in the south. Yes they are automatically considered, but it is not guaranteed. I read this on their website: * Scholarships are awarded competitively. Consideration does not guarantee an award. Each entering class competes with itself. Actual awards are determined based on the number of qualified admitted students, the credentials of those applicants, and available funding.
Will be interesting to see if S24 gets anything

My son received an email notification and then found the scholarship info under the AUSOM tab.

Has he already been accepted with test scores?

Editing because I just saw your acceptance post!

He will definitely get merit
just a matter of waiting for the email! EA1 and EA2 (and likely EA3) have nothing to worry about. I think the reason they say it is not guaranteed is because in the past, with a huge number of applicants, they have had to eliminate the lower tiers on the scholarship charts because the money “ran out”. And for regular admission cycle students, the likelihood of merit is very low because of the late acceptance.

If I saw your stats right, it looks like your son should count on $15,000. Just keep checking the email and portal!

ok so hopefully it’s not like this morning was ALL EA1 accepted students and if there is nothing today you are SOL. S24 was accepted EA1 and “should” be getting $11K so I guess I will tell him to keep checking.

OK thanks. Yes those stats are right. I just started panicking because I thought what if they got a lot more high stat kids this year and are reconfiguring their merit awards accordingly
