My school is going to do an Inauguration Weekend trip to Washington DC next year in order to see the Inauguration. But I'm worried that there will be college audition dates during that time, but do you think that colleges will hold auditions during the week of inauguration? Isn't that supposed to be like a big thing?
But in general I thought that auditions are usually after February, are there any schools that hold auditions at the end of January?

Most schools hold auditions from Nov/Dec. through late Feb. and some into early March. Therefore, yes, some auditions are held at the end of January. However, I think this hardly matters because almost every school has SEVERAL, if not many, audition dates available. Think about it....if they had only one audition date available, very few could make it as kids are auditioning at many places and thus must piece together all their auditions onto the calendar like a master puzzle. As well, many schools also hold auditions at Unifieds which are held in February. So simply, you just have to schedule your auditions for dates that do not overlap your trip to DC. I don't see that as a problem.

What will be important is to sign up for an audition as soon as they allow you to do so in order to have your choice of dates and not have to be forced into certain audition dates. Some schools allow you to call and line up an audition very early in fall. Others open up audition dates at a certain point and require you sign up online. And many others require an application to be filed before letting you sign up for an audition. A few also have an academic review and you have to be invited to audition. So, it will be important to file apps early for schools that want an app filed first, and also to call and sign up for auditions for schools that follow that procedure, early as well, to ensure your best options of dates to fit around your schedule and other auditions.

A trip to DC to see the inauguration is very exciting and not to be missed.
