Is it possible to audition to a music program in your sophomore year of college? I want to, but I don't think I'm prepared enough yet as a freshman. I know every school is different, but in general, is this possible?

If it's a B.A. program, possibly. A B.A. is a liberal arts degree that may require something like 36 credit hours. But if it's a B.Mus., which is a pre-professional music degree, it will require all your electives for four years, if not more. A successful audition at the end of the freshman year would probably require that you use a fifth year of college to complete the program. Bear in mind as well that applicants to audition-based music programs audition at a number of schools in hopes of being accepted to one. If you limited your auditions to the one school at which you spent your freshman year, you'd be cutting your odds way down.

definitely repost this in the music majors forum, you will get LOTS of good advice there. As gadad said, it's very dependent on the school, but if you provide more information, the folks over in the music forum will give you good guidance.
