I am applying to AMDA, UNCSA, MMM, and SUNY Purchase and I was wondering, Has anyone already auditioned for any of those schools? And if so, could you tell me what to expect? I know the basics for UNCSA and Purchase but for AMDA and MMM I am walking in blind, and I don't like that. Some questions that I have are:
How strict are they on songs? (ie: 16 bars, 32 bars)
How many people are watching the audition?
Would they ask for another monologue if they don't like what you performed?
What are the spaces like? (ie: how much movement should i prepare?)
Are they nice?
Is there an interview that follows and if yes what questions should I expect?
Are they very strict on time?
So they let you choose what to do first? (monologue or song)

Thank you for answering any of these.
I am getting really nervous/excited for my audition!

For Purchase are you auditioning on campus or in Chicago, SF or LA?

I am auditioning in New York City.

All I can speak on is Purchase.

As you know it’s a BFA Acting program so the song isn’t to hear how pretty you sound but to see how you breathe – it’s not very important at all. You will most likely be presenting your work to two or three faculty members from the areas of Acting, Voice & Speech. The room is somewhat large and you will have more then enough room. Time isn’t important at all it’s about you! Take your time have fun and don’t worry about anything but your work.

Good Luck with your audition. If you need anything else answered just let me know :)

Complexlife, you said that time isn’t important at all. Does this mean that they will not inforce the five minute rule?

I think that is put there so people won’t have 20 mins monologues. I’ve been to auditions were they have had actors in the room or studio for 20 mins.
