A reminder that the regular decision application date for prospective freshman at JMU is January 15.

Auditions for prospective freshmen are January 16, 23, and 30. As of now the 16th is full, but appointments are still available for the 23rd and the 30th. We will also accept a DVD audition from students who are not able to attend one of the on-campus dates. All information on how to register for an audition or request information on DVD submissions are on the website: [James Madison University School of Theatre and Dance, Harrisonburg, Virginia](http://www.jmu.edu/theatre)

The transfer student application deadline is March 1 and we will audition prospective transfer students on Saturday, March 27.

All the best for a safe winter holiday season!

My D auditioned in mid-January for the MT program and has already been accepted into the school early action. Can you project when the acceptance/rejection letters will be sent out?
Thanks.

Hello!

For EA academic admits to JMU letters from the MT program are generally sent by the end of February at the earliest, middle of March at the latest.

For RD academic applicants to JMU MT program letters are sent by the end of March at the earliest, beginning of April at the latest. Right after JMU sends it’s notification letters.

Both EA and RD applicants have until May 1st to make a final decision.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thanks for your help; and yes, I have another question. What is the total number of students accepted into the MT program, and what is the girl/guy ratio of students accepted?

Sure!

We will accept approximately 14 - 18 to yield a class of 7 - 12 freshmen. We aim for gender balance as much as possible, because it is beneficial in terms of performance opportunities for the admitted students. However, we also look to admit the strongest applicants, so the male/ female admit ratio varies from year to year depending on the auditions in a given year.

Thanks for the update. DD auditioned in mid-January and did not do EA, so she knows it will be the end of March before she hears anything.

Kate - you are great at giving information out and keeping everyone up to date on what is going on with this process. It is really appreciated!

Thanks showmom! Hope that all is well with you and D!

Hi Kate, thanks for asking. This was a busy week for D with the Unifieds in LA where she did 7 auditions, plus a trip back to LA for another one on Wednesday, then we are going to LA again on Sunday to finish up her auditions this week.

She has had a wonderful week and has been healthy and felt confident! I have really enjoyed this special time with D and know I will always have fond memories of her audition season. On the car ride home last Wednesday D said, “I just want one school to want me. That’s really all I need.” When people ask her where she would like to go to school she always replies wherever they want me!

Now it’s time to wait.
