At this point, 5 or 6 schools have audition dates on the same days. How does you fit it all in in one weekend?

Realistically, you can only do one audition a day - unless you go to Unifieds (or a similar regional event). At Unifieds, you can schedule 2-3 per day, because they are all in the same hotel. In addition, many schools are not part of Unifieds, but schedule auditions in NY, Chicago or LA on the same dates and are usually close enough to the Unified site to fit into your schedule. On campus auditions usually take much more time, and involve driving to campus, etc - so plan on one a day.

Thanks meg. With the Unifieds, it seems like one can only request morning (8-12) or afternoon (12-4). Is it possible to squeeze two auditions into one of those timeslots?

Depends on the schools. A couple of the schools that my D auditioned for had 30 minute time slots (or less). Others (DePaul especially) take an entire morning. Some schools took 15 minutes. Allow more time, if you are doing MT as well because some have a dance call. You’ll just have to contact each school individually and ask specific questions. D had 7 auditions in 2 1/2 days.

My D was able to do 7 auditions over 2 days at the LA Unifieds. All of her auditions were for MT and many of them had dance calls. She was not rushed, but she had scheduled 5 before we arrived and did 2 walk-ins.

Some schools give you specific time slots - others require a morning or afternoon block - I scheduled my son and the other students I coach in the following manner: 4 in one day - with specific time slots and plenty of time to spare which allowed for a walk-in or two and lunch. Then 2 auditions a day the following 3 days (we are West Coast). It may sound like a lot, but quite doable!

It seems like that will work if all the auditions are at the Unifieds. I’m impressed at how many auditions the kids here have done in one weekend. It truly is inspiring!

I would pay careful attention to what actingmom says. She is an invaluable source and I know, in regards to my son she has helped put the right train on the right track.

Hey thanks wineguy - always happy to help :)
