Is “Waiting for Life” still a too over done song for a audition?
I have seen it on several “overdone” lists. But as most people say on this board- if you can really SLAY the song, then you might choose to do it anyway. Up to you whether you want to use it even if it is “overdone”.
^ I second that! If you can belt it and kill it and you think it shows off your best self as a person and a performer, I say to go for it!
Plus, songs tend to do a sort of cycle with how overdone they are… like, some songs that used to be overdone a few years ago may not be overdone now because everyone realized how overdone they were and stopped doing them! And Waiting for Life might be one of those.
They’re doing a revival of Once On This Island, set to open on Broadway late fall of this year. Since doing material from shows currently on broadway is frowned upon, I think that might take “Waiting for Life” out of the picture for college auditions
Im “Waiting” for you to hang yourself you stupid cunt.
It is not overdone if done well; you must sing it with the appropriate mix. It should also be noted that race is an issue with this show. If you are not ethnically appropriate for that role, you should not sing the song. ~VT
