Audition Stories -- Class of 2020

@svamom She applied to BFA Screen Acting. Congrats to you also! I don’t think she put a second choice, but I could be wrong. The acceptance to Chapman is tied to their audition, as I understand it, so if they’re accepted to Chapman, they’re accepted to their major… which I suppose would still be up in the air if they listed 2 choices. I guess we’ll know for sure soon.

@jbeansmom it was definitely confusing. He isn’t celebrating until he gets the letter in the mail lol
He’s a theatre performance major. He wanted to step away from the LA scene for a bit and focus on theatre training:)

I can’t keep all of the schools straight. My S. was accepted to Pace, but this does not mean that he will necessarily get into any of the 3 theatre programs applied for, since you can get into the university but not any of the programs you audition for. Chapman-I believe-only sends the admission when you get into 1 of the 2 theatre programs he applied for. Is it safe to assume that he got into 1 of the 2 BFAs he applied for? Is your S. going to attend if admitted? My S. plans to, coming from the East Coast and new to the entire West Coast scene…and super excited about it.

Yes he got into one of the two he applied to at Chapman! Congrats!!!

Mpartist…
I believe that if you go to the student portal it will say decision reached and say what the major is! I was accepted as a screen acting major:)

Congratulations to you! The portal says “Decision reached” for the BFA Screen Acting…is that what yours says?

@Mpartist that’s what my sons says for BFA theatre performance and he received the congratulations acceptance general email from the school Friday. He only applied for that program
Congrats

When did your son audition? I haven’t heard anything yet and I auditioned during Chicago unifieds

he applied by the early action deadline (Nov 1, I think) and auditioned at Chapman in mid-january.

Strange, I sent my application before November 1st but didn’t send my pre screens until late December. When they invited me to come for the “live audition” it said that I was selected to audition for one of their very coveted early action spaces, does this mean I’m early action even though I submitted my pre-screens later than the deadline ?

Official acceptance package from Chapman came in the mail today. It specifies the major…and included merit scholarship info.

She’s finished with all auditions… now the waiting. The only one she knows about from this past weekend (4 auditions) is DePaul because she didn’t get a call back. :frowning:

Congratulations! We got the packet, too, and yes, he did get into the BFA Screen Acting at Chapman,he will wait to see what other options he gets, but I’m pretty sure this is where he will choose to go!

@jbeansmom Our packet came today however no merit :frowning: So this will be interesting… What was her GPA if you don’t mind sharing

@jbeansmom - sorry about Depaul. My D had a similar situation with not being called back for her top choice school for a same day callback. It does sting! Especially during unifieds when you have to continue to audition without much time to process. But, congrats on Chapman. A great program. Those acceptances sure help to get over any rejection. I know my D will continue to think “what if” about that first rejection (what if I did something differently) - but she is also realizing that maybe it wasn’t the right program for her and has a new #1! Congratulations, again, on Chapman.

Does anyone know when University of Michigan decisions are sent out? My friends in the past 2 years heard on Feb 18th and Feb 20th. I believe Michigan just completed their auditions 2 days ago so I’m not sure how quick they are.

In the past, Michigan has notified “around” the 1st week of March

@quirkygirl98 There is one last audition session at Michigan this Friday. At last Friday’s audition info session Brent Wagner said to expect decisions "early to mid March. I remember looking at last year’s thread and believe it was closer to mid than early…

@QuirkyGirl - oops - I forgot what thread I was in – as my daughter is mainly doing MT, but also some straight dramas. I was referring to the MT program. So lucky you in drama may well find out earlier. Disregard my #76 post!

Thank you @toowonderful and @rampions

Has anyone’s child kind of been offered an acceptance in the room??? Told official notice won’t come until April 1?
My daughter was and then I was told pretty much the same…but not in those words.
Also, does anyone know when CMU will notify this year? What about NCU?
Thanks all
