Can anyone help my daughter out with her acting and singing auditions? Specifically, how much time do they allow for the singing audition? Any monologues or mezzo/belter songs she should avoid? If you’ve auditioned already this year, please share your experience!

Each school will ask for and allow different things and lengths of time at the audition. It is important to check each school's website for this information. Generally schools will ask for two contrasting songs, and a monolgue. Some ask for two monologues, some ask that songs be from a certain time period. Usually you are asked to sing 16 to 32 bars of each song, and ask for a one to two minute monologue. As far as suggesting material, that is difficult to do without knowing your daughter. Material is very personal. She should be looking for material that she likes, performs well, and that meets the school's requirements. Does she gave a voice teacher or acting teacher who can help her choose material?
