Just got a letter in the mail stating that I need to audition for the MT BFA program in May

…I have to spend 3 days to audition.

1 day for singing 1 day for dancing and 1 day for acting.

It also was kind enough to tell me that my chances of being accepted is slim based on the State Cuts on schools. I am a CA (Ventura County) resident attending a Community College outside of Orange County. It seems as if students attending OC Community Colleges are more likely to get accepted, yet CSUF’s expectations are lower than students attending other CA Community Colelges.

??

I really want to go hear…but it seems slim that they accept transfers into the BFA program that do not attend OC Community Colleges

Admissions is limiting enrollment of non-OC transfers (higher GPA required - about a 3.7 is estimated) because of budget cuts.

The Department has only accepted 10-12 students into the BFA (junior level) each year - that hasn’t changed.

Our Admissions process and BFA juries are separate entities - but if a transfer student successfully auditions into one of the limited BFA spots, there would be an excellent case for a special appeal to Admissions.

is it possible to transfer in as a soohmore…then audition later?

anmjbfilm005: Absolutely! That is how most transfers end up working (because most community colleges do not offer the equivalent of voice & movement and script analysis required to jury).

that sounds great! I cannot wait to audition for this school! I made a visit to Fullerton about 2 months ago and loved it…Saw “saigon” and loved it! I have few other schools I need to hear from before I can make any decisions…But Fullerton is definitely a top choice…I would love to hear more about it (auditions, schooling, program, BFA…etc) thank you
