Could someone from BoCo tell me whether a freshman is allowed to audition for shows and/or if some tech is required in shows or if you just volunteer for that? thanks

Yes, BwayRocks, Freshman are allowed to audition for shows. If they are on scholarship, they MUST audition for shows. Some tech is required, but it is not overwhelming compared to what I've heard of other schools. Not a lot at all.

I was at BoCo on Monday and was told that while Freshman are allowed to audition for shows, they are limited to no more than one show and participation in one Senior directing project their first semester. Second semester, they may also do one show and participate in up to two Senior directing projects. I could be remembering this incorrectly, as we asked a lot of questions and there was a lot to absorb, but the bottom line is that they do allow freshman to be in shows within a preset limit.

Thanks lynnm and proudmother for your responses. Excellent to hear that auditioning and participation in shows is possible in freshman year. Getting cast is probably another story but at least it's not prohibited as is the case in most other schools.
