Thanks Sashusmom
We are looking forward to the trip and to visiting Wagner again. D loved it last November with the leaves changing color—now she can see it with snowbanks. We will look for your D. Thanks for the well wishes.

If anyone has the time to stay and see “Little Women” (not sure if their is a Sunday eve performance)or is coming in on Sat.- My D says it’s a great show- Call and get comp tickets for your perspective student!

I auditioned for Wagner yesterday! I loved it! Although the facilities are older, the professors and current students were awesome! They definately made everyone feel comfortable! I enjoyed the set-up the audition itself! The dance call was really fun–and challenging coming from a non-dancer!

Now the waiting game begins! Hope for the best for everyone!!

Anyone know if Wagner provides musical accompaniment for its theatre auditions?

Yes, an accompanist is provided at the audition. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key, with your cuts clearly marked. My S is a current freshman Theatre Performance major. Let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll answer as best I can.

Yesterday was Wagner Audition day.
I just wanted to post from a parent’s perspective that the administration and current students were very welcoming and gave us very comfortable places to sit and wait for our children. I believe there was coffee and bagels and we were able to purchase food in the cafeteria or cafe while waiting.

We were informed that 350 theatre students applied. 200 were accepted into the university and invited to audition. About 30 or so sent in video auditions. They will accept 50 to yield 36 and go to a waitlist to build the class of 36 if there are any spots left open.

The students were broken up into three groups depending on what they did first: dance, sing, monologues, after filling out paperwork in a classroom setting.
It was a little hectic in the hallways while the morning applicants were finishing and the afternoon applicants were starting but it all worked out. They ushered us all into a large auditorium and discussed financial issues and theatre issues with us and then we were taken to another room where we got to hear details about the theatre department from the theatre chair and 5 enthusiastic students, I believe mostly seniors.

The kids all auditioned in front of one another in groups of 25.
For the most part most kids performed one song and one monologue, although there appeared to be instances where they asked for a different song of some candidates.
The program is a BA Major in Theatre and Speech with a theatre performance concentration with an MT curriculum but a focus on acting.
Even Freshman are encouraged to get internships with a heavy emphasis on getting experience throughout the 4 years.

All in all, students are a happy group, the faculty is committed, the campus is gorgeous, although hilly there are breathtaking views of NYC and the bridge and the grounds are quite safe and quaint.
