Does CCM offer any scholarships for musical theater?

Yes, they do, they have merit and several academic scholarships including the Cincinnatus, which you have to attend to compete in, but with certain GPA's you automatically receive 2-5,000 depending on instate vs. out of state.

When I received my acceptance email, Mr. Berg said there were a few talent scholarships that would be dispersed with the financial aid package. He said they weren't a lot of money, more of a token gesture. He did suggest to look at the other scholarships available from UC. Also with the Cincinnatus, you don't have to attend anymore to get the $2000 a year. You only have to attend if you want to compete for the higher amounts. This is new this year.

chelle, are you from Ohio by any chance? it seems that CCM is only taking kids from Ohio so far

My son auditioned for ACTING last weekend, and he learned about his acceptance from "check my status" but hasn't had the "official" notification by letter yet. Don't know if there are any ACTING students looking at CCM reading these posts. . .if you're out there, go to the website!

What is the Cincinnatus?

It is a scholarship competition. They send out invitations to qualified students and until this year everyone had to compete on campus for the monies. You receive at the minimum $2000 a year. But this year the qualifications changed and you can also choose to accept the $2000 without competing or take the test on campus for a chance of higher amounts. You also have to perform 30 hours of community service a year to maintain the scholarship from year to year.

A current MT freshman at CCM won one of the 10 full scholarships last year, so it's definitely worth the trip if CCM is your top choice.

So the bigger scholarships are for academics only??? Can it be a combination or strictly talent??

I would add that it's definitely worth the trip if you've already been accepted, or if it's close enough that it doesn't necessitate an expensive airfare.

If you haven't auditioned and been accepted, it would most likely hurt to get a big scholarship, but not admission to the program!

The Cincinnatus is not related to CCM. It is sponsered by UC and has nothing to do with talent. But if you are invited I think it would be definitely worth taking the test. You have nothing to lose.

No we are not from Ohio, unfortunately. In state tuition would make it easier.

d. has two more auditions scheduled for Feb. (NYU and Boston). We are leaning towards cancelling them. We will probably be traveling back to Cincinnati for the Cincinnatus competition. What are the merit scholarships like at CCM and when do you find out?

The info we got on the day of the audition was that there was limited $ for merit scholarships, so expect "modest" awards at best. It is unclear when the merit awards are made known. The letter of acceptance mentioned that "the complete financial aid package" will be available after March 31st. It seems that this might mean any merit/talent $ will be announced then.
