I thought for sure it'd be out by now, and I really want to finish it before school.
When did it come out last year?

Just be patient. You already know what the essays are going to be about; that's the only time-consuming part. You're going to have to wait for transcripts and recommendations, as well, so what's the rush?

Even if you're applying ED, I think you'll find that taking your time on the applications pays off. I found that as I applied to 12 schools, the applications I wrote later in the process were better than the first ones. You will mature quite a bit even in the few months between now and the deadlines.

^agreed

It might not be online but you can go here http://www.admissionsug.upenn.edu/request/ to request an application by mail.

If you wanna see last year's, here's the link:

Agree totally with the above posters, I applied to a SCEA school (and got deferred), and I found that the apps I did later for regular decision turned out to be folds better than my early action application. (and then I did get rejected by that SCEA school)

i got an app in the mail like 2 days ago

mrchipmunk...what are the essays...

the same as last year?

i got an exclusive from a contact in the admissions office. The first question:

Name: _______________________________________

Just got mine in the mail today, same as last year.

Dude, I didn't finish my app last year until about three hours before it was due. Not that you should be doing that, but enjoy the rest of the summer while you can. Work on your app over the course of a few months ... don't scramble to turn it in early, because a lot of new stuff might come up.

oh noes. i did not receive a penn application yet, for i am planning to apply early decision. should i keep hoping or just do the common app?

also, for the people who received it already, do you live close to Pennsylvania?

I live in Michigan...
You don't get the common app supp, but the Penn application, so it does me no good. The viewbook was nice though.

my advice to everybody applying to penn, especially to those doing early: DO THE COMMON APP.

why?

1) it's already available online, so you can easily get started on it. do something more productive than wait in a lawn chair next to your mailbox.
2) god forbid you get deferred/denied, you have nearly completed applications to a whole bunch of other schools. otherwise, your post-december 15th/holiday break is gonna suck. btw, some schools (harvard comes to mind) have supplements that require virtually no extra effort - just throw in an application fee and you're set.
3) with the common app+penn supplement, you basically end up writing one more essay. why is that a good thing? essays help your adcom get to truly know you beyond your "stats." the more your adcom knows YOU - your thoughts, aspirations, successes and failures, personality - the more likely they are to vouch for you in the admissions committee.
4) choosing one application over another gives you ABSOLUTELY NO advantage or disadvantage in admissions. choosing the penn app for the sole purpose of distinguishing yourself from the rest of the common application pool is pretty dumb, especially because the common app + penn supplement makes you do AS much work (if not more) as the penn app
