Hi everyone! I am a rising senior who is currently stuck with a bad SAT score due to COVID 19 and the cancellation of spring tests. I was able to take the test in March for the first time and scored an 1130. I am usually really good at state mandated exams but when it comes to these bigger national exams I tend to choke. I am currently registered for the August 29th test which will probably be the last time I am able to take it. Is it possible to increase by 200 points in this time frame? And if so what methods of studying would you recommend? I want to score at the very least a 1270 but would love to able to make it into the 1300’s.
200 points by August is not out of the question, but it will require a bit of work.
What is your test prep budget? Your options range from free (Khan Academy) to buying a handful of books with sample tests and questions to test prep through your high school to Princeton Review/Huntinton/other classes to private tutors.
I would start by reviewing your score in detail, note what parts and types of questions you scored poorly in, and start focusing on those skills.
Obviously you’d rather be done after August, but if it takes some pressure off, you may have another shot at the test in October or December.
