Aussie Class of 13

Any (other) Aussies heading over to the States this year?
Would be interested to hear where y'all are going, and experiences/hopes/fears etc...

where r u heading?? I'm German xD

I'm Aussie. Possibly going to Canada or America

yeah i'm not 100% sure where i'm going - official offers not out yet - but i somehow got an early letter from harvard so i'll probably head there (aid, and princeton's response, depending)...
whereabouts you from in germany? ich hab auch ein bisschen deutsch in der schule gelernt :p

good luck, y'all!
lettuce know how it goes

I'm aussie! Sydney baby all the way!

Have no idea where I am heading yet... and no idea if I will actually be heading there... waiting on the ivies responses and financial aid from my dream/no 1 school... and praying for a decent package! but woot aussies are totally going to dominate this fall!

hey sydney boy here, im heading to duke this year with the robertson

argh you got the robertson. wow! I'm totally impressed. I applied for that too but I knew I had no chance. So USC didn't pan out for ya then?

whats a robertson? congrats, whatever it is :p

its a full scholarship all expenses paid i.e. living as well to a combined program between duke and UNC: Chapel Hill... there were only two for aussie kids this year and its the first year they were offered. It was run through UNSW scholarships I believe

Can int'l students apply for Robertsons? No, I'm not considering it (LOL. Am a junior.) but was just curious 'cause I haven't seen many full-ride SCHOLARSHIPS for int'l student. :)

Wesleyan university and Charlton do have full-ride scholarships for int'l students. Check em out!

Carleton College: Admissions: Aid for International Students

The Wesleyan Freeman Asian Scholars Program

Yes, the Robertson Scholars Program at Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill is open to all students, regardless of nationality. There are specific programs to recruit students from Australia and New Zealand, but anyone can apply regardless of citizenship.

Learn more about the Robertson: Robertson Scholars: Homepage

1 person from NZ each year.

There were two specifically for australian students this year.

yeah, USC gave me a dean's scholarship, about 10k a year, but that was no way enough for my family to afford the rest. When i was lucky enuf to get the robertson at Duke, I knew I'd be attending, it was just too good to turn down for anything else.

Hey beeish, just wondering, how many ppl do u think applied for the Australian robertson this year? I know that they actually awarded one in the end for Australians, and two from New Zealand.

I am an aussie from melbourne! where are you applying to or going?

I have no idea. I only knew of two.... and now I guess three. UNSW sent out emails to people... I don' t know how they chose which people to send the email to cause like me and one of my friends got it, but another one of my friends didn't get it. So yeah... I have nooooo idea
sorry!
Sitk I thought you interviewed for one of the bigger scholarships... like the presedential or the trustee? or was it just an early acceptance for the deans?

they sent emails to all the people who had accounts with UNSW Scholarships. Which means pretty much anyone who applied to any scholarship at UNSW, with the exception of the Co-op, which runs on a different account and mailing system.

Yeah when i got an early acceptance to USC I thought it would mean I was getting interviewed for one of those larger scholarships as well, but apparently, it just meant I was getting a dean's scholarship. In hindsight, it all worked out, but when I first found out I was a bit cut ...lol, it's all good now though.

I hope it all works out for you as well beeish. I started at UNSW this year but I dropped out when I found out about Duke.

Hey guys, the Roberston Scholarship sounds wonderful (amlost too true to be true). Congrats stik and thanks for bringing it to my attention!

One question, can you provide me with the link where it says it allocates 2 spots for Aussie students coz I can only find the special NZ recruitment program.

Also it says that "Finalists are invited to attend Finalists' Weekend on the Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill campuses" where the final selection takes place - does this apply to intl students too?!

Thanks :)
