Aussie girl looking for college!

Hi I am Currently contemplating which college to go to for a semester study abroad! I am from Australia and my uni here at home has limited options so i have the choice between Ohio University in Athens or university of arizona Tucson. I am currently studying english and drama teaching and academically both colleges are fine. However I really would love to get someones opinion of one or both of these areas like will i survive without a car? is there any nightlife? do i have to be in a sorority?(hope not!) what is the weather like , people etc etc...just general lifestyle stuff. and does anyone know what campus life is like at any of these colleges dorms etc. Im sorry to plague you with 1000 questions but i gotta get an honest depiction of what it would be like! I have been to the states to PA and NYC but thats all so i would love to hear about athens and Tucson in a non-book report type way.
thank you very much

They are completely different climates. Arizona is basically desert, and Ohio is in winter right now going to summer at the end of the semester. Don't know if you knew this or not.

Tuscon is a big city, lots to do, and a capital city, meaning you get the politics as well. Athens is a classic college town, beautiful campus. Another thing to consider is the sports, where Arizona has a fantastic basketball team, and a up-and-coming football team, whereas Ohio isn't as good in both regards.

I don't know Arizona other than it's hot and I don't want to be there (I grew up in a relatively cold area) but Ohio would be great if you go there for either semester, because you get to experience snow and winter (Nov-Mar), leaves changing, as well as summer heat (May-June for second semester, Aug-Sep for first). Ohio looks like a great campus with a homely feel to it. You won't be needing a car at either place, as others will have cars, and generally you can take the bus anywhere.

1) no car needed at either college both have buses and lots of people with cars
2)Nightlife is great at both. Ohio is ranked as #2 party school by princeton review and i've heard arizona is pretty nice as well
3) no clue about arizona but at ohio u since there is so much partying everywhere, it doesnt really matter if your in a sorority or not. Random people will see you walking down the street and randomly invit you to come in and party with them.
4)Arizona weather is dry and hot most of the year while ohio has all 4 seasons....Arizona is like the interior of australia i guess. People in athens are very nice and open-minded, ohio is usually ranked close to the top in happy students
5)ohio has great dorms.. they supply a computer in your dorm room and the dorms are much nicer than most. In one residence hall there is even an indoor pool. The food is pretty ok and the town of athens is gorgeous. When i say gorgeous i mean breathtakingly so in any season. Also, ohio doesnt have sales tax on food products if that means anything.

I took classes at ohio u over the summer and i plan on attending next year after i graduate from high school... so im kinda biased i guess

Ohio University will give you a great abroad experience if you are looking for a college-student type life. Athens IS the quintessential college town.

Hi..thanks heaps for your response! I am thinking that ohio is the place for me..it looks really chilled and pretty...dont think i could handle the heat of Arizona...I dont even like our deserts in oz, so dont think i would like that..thanks for your info on the dorms as well..hope all goes well with your studies.
