Also, if the uni have awarded you partial financial aid - can that be used as supporting materials to show you can afford tuition instead of having full amount in bank since you wont need to pay full amount!?

yes. for example one school i got accepted to, in the package, had the financial form with the full amount minus the merit aid they are to give me. so i only have to show them 40000 instead of 50000 for example.
hope it helps.

any good news guys?
has anyone applied this year taken AP tests?

can u even take ap classes in aust?
and i just got accepted into another uni (GW) making it 6 out of 6

A huge congradulation to you!!!
I mean anyone home school AP and take the examination?

oh god i’m so glad I don’t need a visa!!!

Ivies results are going to come out soon

on tuesday!!! well wednesday morning by aussie time!!! not so stressed though cause already got into my first choice

first choice? which one?
…- -
you guys are…awesome!!! welldone!

beeish and st.g.i.dragons
which unis did you guys get accepted? congrats!!!
ooh st.g.i.dragons im a korean as well xD so good to know few korean australians applying to american unis
i haven’t got my australian citizenship yet…
I’m just curious, if you get into American unis, why dont people apply for US permanent visa? That way you can get more benefits like financial aid, jobs and whatnot in the country??

Isn’t it more difficult/time-consuming to get a permanent visa or something? Like somone has to sponsor you or you need direct family living there etc…? Yeah, Idk… LOL.

yes carpe-diem is correct with the time consuming part lol
ive been waiting 5 years for my permenant residency and i still havnet got mine. apparently it will take another 1-2 years… and i have a granmother who is a citizen of america…

hopefully ill have a permenant residency status once time for graduate school arrives lol

auskor_crimson - hey glad to have another korean/australian on board lol i didnt apply any ivy leagues but i got accepted into (so far), GW, American, Clark, Northeastern etc

also as long as you are accepted into a school and can show you have the money i think its pretty easy to get a student visa… you can try for the permenant once you get there

and I got into two big west coast colleges :)

st.g.i.dragons congrats! you got into four colleges that’s awesome!! my family had to wait for only three years to get australian permanent residency and i agree, having your relatives definitely helps :)

beeish, congrats as well! i imagine the two big west coast colleges includes stanford and ucla? if so, im so jealous!! xD if not, id still be jealous! california must the awesomest place to live, and study of course. ;)

Ooh, QUESTION (for those who’ve applied): you know how your teachers write your rec’s (or counselor, etc…)? How did you approach them and what was their reaction. My biggest fear is getting rejected EVERYWHERE and having to let everyone know. hides in shame

Stupid, I know :P

UCLA was right didn’t apply to stanford… haha if you search my posts you will have noooooooooo issue figuring out what the second one is haha

carpe-diem I ran into ALOT of problems getting my recs cause my school princip

OMG, thanks! So glad u don’t find out until after you graduate.
LOL. I could be at an Ivy or my local TAFE for all they know
Jokes. At least I HOPE it doesn’t come to the latter >.<

haha I’m sure if your a competitive applicant for an Ivy you’ll get into uni here haha I mean there was no chance in hell of me getting into say Harvard (not that I actually applied… ergo chance was zero anyways but if I had) but I got into a REALLY good course in aus… people keep telling me I’m nuts to give it up but I really want to go to College so who cares right?

Since I am way too lazy to search for your posts, can you (please) enlighten me on the aforementioned course? Starts to beg

laughs Oh yes. beeish got into an unbelievably good course in Aus.

I basically just explained the situation to them, and they were more than happy to do it. The only difficulty was, they didn’t know HOW to do it. I pretty much had to walk them through every step of the common application. Most Australian students are happy to go into the Australian universities, so don’t be surprised if your teacher isn’t sure what to do.
