I am stuck in a dilemma between choosing either Austin College or UT Austin, by tomorrow. I am majoring in biology for both schools, but I would like to know which school is overall better in preparing me for the medical field, and why.

UT Austin hands down.

A small college or a huge university? That is your question.

Your GPA is going to be the most important thing for medical school. Which do you think would help you get that high GPA? A small college where your given more personal attention? Something to think about.

Many people start college thinking about medical school and change their minds once they get into the coursework. The huge advantage UT has over Austin College is that there are tons of highly ranked departments at UT. UT has far greater choices than AC.

Personally, I would go with UT. You’ll need to learn independence eventually.

Austin college is a fabulous LAC. You couldn’t have two more different schools to choose from. If you are interested in the medical field or medical school, Austin College has a terrific pre-med undergraduate program with a very high rate of medical school acceptances. Austin is one of the three or four best college towns in the U.S. Good luck with your choice.

those two schools have almost nothing in common.

you should go to UT-Austin. not to rain on your plan, but there are tons of people who want to go to med school, but very few actually make it. not to say you won’t make it, but it’s good to have a back up plan. UT-Austin is much more recognized than AC. UT-Austin’s vast network and career center will make getting a job a lot easier. If you go to AC, your only exit option is grad school.

UT-Austin. I’ve never even heard of Austin College, so I looked it up. Not to my surprise, academically, it’s no contest.
