Hi Everyone, I'm an Australian International student currently looking to apply to some top US colleges in a few years time. I was just wondering if my academic high school transcript will be viewed in the same manner as US transcripts, meaning that if an "A" grade here was viewed as being equal to an US "A" grade. Also, do US colleges convert my grades to a 4.0 GPA scale or do they just take my ATAR score at the completion of high school as the substitute? I would really appreciate any insights from Australians studing in the US. Thanks in advance. :)

The school academic year in the northen hemisphere is different to in Australia, I think you get your ATAR at the end of the year, and therefore you would have alrady applied in spring and your colleges won’t have your atar, unless you send it to them later, which I’m unsure if you can do that or not. But they look at your grades, achievements, extre-curriculars, ability to pay for funding, ect. ect.

@akova1 thanks for your reply! I will most likely be sending my applications during the November to January time frame depending on each individual school so you are right in saying that some applications will not have my ATAR on it. However I have been advised by my academic counselor that the school can predict my ATAR roughly based on my senior grades and that will constitute for my ATAR before the real results come out in December ( I will send to schools after receiving)

bump.
