AutoCAD vs. SolidWorks

As an incoming freshman in mechanical engineering, one of the classes I'll be taking in the fall is Engineering Design Graphics. The schedule of classes indicates that some sessions are marked as working with AutoCAD, while others are shown as using SolidWorks. I gather that students can choose between them.

Googling "AutoCAD vs SolidWorks" shows lots of discussions of this topic. Any input on which of these it makes sense to learn in this point in life, heading into ~four years in school and then the job market?

SolidWorks. Parametric 3D modeling is more useful these days than something like AutoCAD.
