Hi,
Having some free time and being obsessed with checking my status, I coded an automated application status checker for the University of Michigan. Even though I started developing this for my own use, I am now making it public because of the high demand.

Requirements:
- .NET Framework 2.0 or above (you probably have it, so don't worry)

Instructions:
- Launch the application.
- Enter your email and password.
- Click the "Start/Stop" button once. From now on, the application will check your application status every two minutes.

You can click the "Minimize to Tray" button in order to minimize the application. The application will continue to check your status every two minutes. You will be notified by a baloon tip when your decision is announced.

This sounds awesome! You should send it in to the school and show them how passionate you are about attending, hahaha.
However…it’s not working for me. I have a Mac. Do you know why?

When it comes to your problem, it is normal that it doesn’t work on Mac because this is a Windows executable. You can install Windows on your Mac using BootCamp and then use it, though.

Nope. The BootCamp menu will be displayed during the boot and you will select which OS you would like use. BootCamp is an official Apple software, so don’t worry about the compatibility.

Of course, you should have a Mac with an Intel processor.

I just sent an email to an admission counselor (the one which replied when I sent an email to my admission counselor) about my application. Let’s see if I will receive anything other than the standard “Thank you for your interest. It has been noted” reply.

That’s impressive. I just checked and, as it should have, it detected a decision for me (I got accepted in the EA round). I really hope the admissions counselor sees this and goes “Wow, this kid is really dedicated to going here.” That’s the thought that ran through my head just now. Good luck!!

It’s great that you tried it because I had never tested it with someone who has received a decision; in order to test, I was artificially creating the conditions which are formed when a decision has been announced.

It has no significance since the deferrals are not posted online. This application will notify you in case a final decision is made on your application.

I sent my admission counselor an email. Let’s see what happens. :)
