Automatic Academic Scholarship Urgent Question

I got accepted to IU Bloomington. I wanted to take a year off before going there but my parents kept arguing with me. However, they finally told me that I could do that. My reasons for the year off are that I missed the November 1st scholarship deadline and for personal reasons.
My question is after I tell them I am not going, can I reapply and still get the automatic acedemic scholarship? I read their site and it says only incoming freshmen so I assume that I still qualify for them.

You should call IU and ask. It appears that the scholarship (if any) that is awarded when you first apply is apllied to a deferred admission according IU’s website [Frequently Asked Questions: Automatic Academic Scholarships:Office of Scholarships: Indiana University Bloomington](<a href=“Future Scholars: Office of Scholarships: Indiana University Bloomington”>Future Scholars: Office of Scholarships: Indiana University Bloomington) :

If a student defers their offer of admission for up to one year (by formally requesting their deferral through the Office of Admissions) and it is approved, they can keep their Automatic Academic Scholarship when they enroll as a freshman. They will maintain the scholarship offered to them at the time of their admission to IU and will not be re-reviewed for their new year of enrollment.

If I defer, I won’t get that scholarship. I was asking if I would still get them if I decline to go there this year and APPLY AGAIN this same year. Do you just have to be an INCOMING FRESHMAN to qualify for them?

If you decline and reapply you might qualify. You’d need to ask. I would decline and apply to a few schools with assured scholarships.
