<p>so if you have above 425 you AUTOMATICALLY are admitted to one of the UC schools? what if you only apply to berkeley, then does that mean they HAVE to accept you? that’d be nice too good to be true though :P</p>
<p>there’s a similar thread about this entitled “Berkeley as my safety?” and the OP calculates his little score thingy and wants to know if he’s guaranteed. I’d read some of the responses for yourself but in short people have told him that those numbers are automatic for “lower” UCs (merced, riverside) and it would be naive to think that cal would take people solely on that score.

<p>In fact, if you had only applied to Cal, were not offered a spot in Berkeley but had a score high enough to guarantee admission to a UC, you would be contacted by one or more lower UCs informing you that in spite of your not applying to them, you have a spot if you want it.</p>
