Any of you guys hear back yet? I finished my application about a week and a half ago so i should be hearing back pretty soon! I'm excited! I read that I should hear back within 2 weeks. Does that sound right?

According to this page, you may have to wait a month or so:
[Automatic Admission | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/freshmen/after-you-apply/automatic-admission)

They are not going to admit anyone automatically, even valedictorians, unless they receive ALL the documents, including high school transcript with rank, test scores and the list of 12th grade classes.
The high school did not even start yet. :)

I don’t see where that link says anything about waiting a month to hear.

Cwill, have they received everything they need (sat scores, transcript)? Have you signed up for My Status?

[MyStatus | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/services/apply/checkstatus)

Ya Ya, I believe the rank is determined by the end of the 11th grade year.

No, GPA is determined by the end of the 11th grade year, not rank.
It is a well known fact that in public schools senior class is usually smaller than junior class and students who were on the very bottom of 10% usually go below 10%.
There were several topics in this forum where people discussed it.

My application is complete. I’ve submitted all necessary documents including my transcripts. My rank was calculated at the end of my junior year. I’ve applied for housing and everything haha.

School districts set their own class rank policy. Many give a rank at the end of junior year to facilitate the filing of college apps when ApplyTexas opens up on August 1. Others wait until a certain time during senior year. Some don’t rank, and some only rank the top 10%. So it all depends on what your school does…

Good luck to all 2013 applicants!

I wish some other auto admit students or someone from the university would weigh in about it taking a month? My oldest found out in 2 days and now for my youngest it’s going on 2 weeks.

My application was completely completed August 1st & I have not found out yet (I am an auto-admit). I looked back on my forums from last year and it looks like they start sending out acceptances around Sept. 1. Will keep y’all posted as to when I receive mine!

Thank you TJ (I assume that’s your name haha) That’s exactly what I wanted to know. I’m so anxious!!!

Nothing like knowing where you are going at the very beginning of your senior year. Allows you to enjoy the last year of high school.

Very true. I get to focus now on my classes while other people are trying to find time to complete their applications.

I talked to someone in admissions today. She said you get your acceptance into the school, if you’re an auto admit, into the college of natural science/liberal arts. BUt most of the time they do not grant admission into competetive schools- McCombs/Cockrell- until they receive all applications. And they usually have decisions out first week of February.

Has anyone heard anything yet? Still waiting…

Same here…

Based on what I know from last year (my kid applied just before honors deadline of October 15th), the acceptance to UT comes quickly (2-5 days) based solely on the rank on your transcript as long as all of the documents have reached them.

The engineering admission rolled around a couple of weeks later but my kid was quite highly qualified. So I don’t know if they delay some borderlines longer based on the actual engineering dept. The honors in engineering took a while (late february or so). However, the plan II came in November while others were kept waiting until February/March time frame.

The schools are required to provide the rank to state schools on transcripts even if they don’t release it to students because they know the application process will be delayed. So just because you are not aware of it does not mean the school is not issuing the rank on your transcript.

I guess my oldest just timed it right. His application was complete on Sept 13 (last year)and he was accepted in 2 days. His brother applied this year on the 7th or 8th and is still waiting. He’s about to have a nervous breakdown! Get with it UT!

Folks, has anyone received admission acceptance from UT Austin for Fall 2013 yet?

My son does not qualify for auto-admission and he has applied to CNS (Computer Science) and Engineering (Electrical). From all the discussion threads, it seems we will hear from UT Austin in Feb 2013 - long wait ahead.

Thanks for reading this post.

I am auto-admit but have not heard yet. I did get my A&M acceptance a couple days ago, but I am more excited for my UT acceptance.
