I am currently a junior and in the top 7% in my high school (a Texas public school).
I am in the class of 2019 and will graduate next year and wanting to be a future UT student.
However, there are multiple people saying that the auto admit cut off is 6% when I apply which I will be applying this fall of 2018. Is this true?
Top 6% takes into effect for those starting UT summer/fall of 2019
Wait what.
Top 6% was already in effect this graduating high school year 2017-18 for entry into UT Austin Fall 2018-19.
Yep, this was announced in the Austin Statesman sometime in the past 6 months, I remember reading the article and knew it dropped the % rate by a point from 7% to 6% for Fall 2019.

I guess I’m just confused since it states “The University of Texas at Austin will automatically admit eligible Texas students in the top 6 percent of their high school graduating class beginning in the summer and fall of 2019” but I am going to apply during the fall of 2018 so I’m confused someone just give me a yes or no answer if the top 7% rule still applies to my class (class of 2019).
@christienahhh No, the top 7% cutoff will not be in effect for the high school class of 2019. Applicants from your class have to be in the top 6% to qualify for automatic admission. Even though you will be making application in fall of 2018, you will be entering the university in the fall of 2019.
