Automatic Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships

Thanks Bob. I pinned the thread so it is visible at the top.

I see McDermott listed for UTD which is highly competitive but I don’t see the AES awards listed under UT Dallas. I am not sure anyone actually gets turned down for these but I will go with competitive listing. Many have been going to UT Dallas over other top schools in Texas because of the free tuition.

Looks to me like Temple’s are automatic:

“Through the new program, all freshmen students — both in-state and out-of-state — with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 and SAT score of 1150 will receive the awards. Students who meet the requirements for the top category, President’s Scholars, will also receive three $4,000 summer stipends for use on research or study abroad experiences. All scholarships are valid for four years when students maintain a 3.0 GPA with continuous enrollment.” - Oct 2012
[Temple expands academic scholarship program | Temple University News](Temple expands academic scholarship program | Temple Now)

And here’s a May 2013 press release touting the impact of the scholarships on the composition of the incoming freshman class: http://news.temple.edu/news/2013-05-22/new-scholarships-temple-made-campaign-drive-strong-class-2017

New scholarships more in line with UA and UAB and closer to the pre 2013 UAH scholarship.

[UAH - Financial Aid - Entering Freshmen - Non-Residents Merit Awards](http://www.uah.edu/financial-aid/aid/scholarships/new-freshmen/non-residents-merit-awards)

I guess S can add UAH back on to his list.

That’s nice from Temple. Free tuition + stipend for 32 ACT and 3.75.

[Latest update. Added Temple, updated UAH, removed Jackson State and Columbia College. Added scholarship application deadlines for schools that publish them.]

This is a compilation of large scholarship awards that are automatically awarded. The awards included in this list meet the following criteria:

Awarded automatically based on GPA, SAT, ACT, and/or class rank

At least Full Tuition/Full Ride in magnitude (or equivalent)

Open to all US students, regardless of state residency, ethnicity, race, etc.

No need-based requirement or component

College must be accredited, public or non-profit private, 4-year degree-granting institution

Key:

Full Tuition: covers the cost of tuition for 4 years
Full Ride: covers Tuition, Room, and Board for 4 years (may include other benefits as well)
exp: stipend for experiential learning (internship, study abroad, etc., allowable uses vary by college)

I have also attempted to calculate the residual cost of attendance (COA) given the scholarship award. NOTE, however, that this was calculated based on each individual college’s published Cost of Attendance, and these estimates may vary in how they are calculated and what costs are included.

Where published, the application deadline for receiving the scholarships is included. Some deadlines are “Priority” deadlines, so awards after the deadline may still be possible.

Some schools give awards on a first-come, first-served basis as funds are available. A notation is included for all schools with this caveat.

NOTE: First-come, first-served award

Arizona, Idaho, and New Mexico publics have automatic merit scholarships of this magnitude, but they are awarded on the basis of National Merit standing.

The requirements listed for Utah Valley aren’t accurate. The criteria is on a scale like that at Utah State. Full tuition, fees, and a stipend is a 1340+ SAT (CR+M) with a 3.9 GPA. Full tuition only is a wider range of scores and GPAs.

Columbia College now states on their website that their awards are not guaranteed.

<a href=“Scholarships & Grants | Columbia College”>http://www.columbiasc.edu/admissions/financial-aid/first-year-scholarships

From some of my reading on these sites, I have found the following “automatic” scholarships are not guaranteed:

University of Arkansas (Little Rock): “Eligibility does not guarantee a scholarship, and awards are determined annually based on eligible applications and available funding.”

University of Central Arkansas: “UCA Academic Scholarships are awarded on a COMPETITIVE basis”

Please correct if wrong…

UPDATED UAB oos automatic scholarships for this year:

To be eligible for an academic scholarship at UAB, you must be admitted by May 1 of your senior year in high school. Entering freshmen who are admitted by that date are automatically considered for ACT & GPA-based scholarships. Your December test scores from your senior year will be the last scores considered for scholarship purposes. All scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified students. Scholarships from specific schools and departments may require additional applications, and their deadlines may be earlier than May 1. Visit uab.edu/scholarships for more information.

Alabama has changed its deadline to Dec 15. And, now accepts ACT and SAT exams scores thru Dec of senior year. This is a nice change.

Just wondering, did Newberry college decide not to give out a full ride scholarship this year? I followed the link and browsed through the various scholarships/grants, but I can’t seem to find one that gives a full ride.

Yes, it appears Newberry reduced their scholarship offerings across the board.

Thank you for providing us with all of these scholarship opportunities. It is greatly appreciated!

Does anyone one if the Millennium Scholar Award from Troy Univ, the Charger Excellence Award form Univ of Alabama Huntsville and the Distinguished Presidential from Tuskegee Univ available for intl students? Can’t find the info on their website. Thanks before!

[Latest update. Removed Newberry, Central Arkansas, Southern Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock. Added Tuskegee.]
