Automatic Scholarships- 1400 SAT

I am trying to find colleges on the east coast preferably major universities that have automatic scholarships. I would like one for a full ride if possible. I have a 1400 on my SAT (CR and M), second out of 357 in class, and play varsity baseball. Does anyone know any colleges that I could receive a scholarship to?

Nope. You have to start hunting thorough each college website. It is hard work. Even then, you have to apply, get accepted and THEN the acceptance letter next April will tell you what scholarship you got.

Research a ton. Apply to a variety of places. IT is a big undertaking – but kids succeed every year.

Try Alabama…they’re supposed to be very generous with scholarships.

A 1400 – while an excellent score – is not going to get you an automatic free ride at a major university, even at a school in Alabama. Depending upon the college, your score may qualify you for a discount off the sticker price, but as Olymom said, you need to do the research, apply, write additional essays etc.

Look through this http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/848226-important-links-automatic-guaranteed-merit-scholarships.html?highlight=automatic+scholarships</a>
The search bar works well.

What is your likely major?

When you say that you want a “free ride”…do you mean free tuition or …a true free ride which would include free tuition, room, board, etc? I don’t think any top schools will give you a free ride for a 1400 M+CR. As mentioned above, UAlabama will give you free tuition for a 1400 M+CR. Also…if you major in engineering or comp sci, Bama will give you an additional $2500 per year. But, I don’t know of any mid-tier or elite school that gives a full ride for a 1400 SAT.

However…how did you do on your PSAT? Are you a likely National merit? If so, there are generous scholarships associated with that. :)
