Given that WM is recognized as providing an excellent and challenging academic environment for its students, can current students comment on the availability of individual academic support at the likely instances of need.

When I began writing history papers, I wasn't sure about some of the technical aspects that were expected. I made an appointment with the writing resource center and was given one on one treatment. All my questions were answered and I did not feel as though the person helping me was being pushy in the least. There are different outlets such as this one to gain support. I've asked professors questions before and they would immediately invite me into their office to have a discussion and make sure I was on the right track. Also, I have heard many instances from my friends where they had many papers due and asked one or two of their professors if they could have an extended deadline because they were loaded down. The professors were understanding in these cases and worked it out with the students. You'll find also that WM will give entering freshmen a manual which discusses things such as time management and how to approach the beginning of classes.

There are many sources for assistance. Professors are more than willing to sit down with you and go over your paper if you finish it ahead of time, or to go over a draft with you. As Tribe1693 mentioned, there is a writing resources center staffed by trained students who are paid. You can make an appointment and they are very helpful. I have never been there, but I know multiple people who work there.

In science related classes, there are often extra help sessions, and free tutoring sessions that you can go to.

In general, you can also go to your advisor, and the people in academic advising are very helpful.
