Gwen - That is what she said actually! That Purchase, CMU and Boston I think, would all be together in NY on the weekend of Feb 1 and 2! I was so confused… I didn’t want to say “Are you sure? Because this means we have to be in NY two weekends in a row lady!”

And plenty of people travel serious distance, too… and then there’s all the joy and convenience of being in NYC along with the Super Bowl! Maybe they’ll change their dates once it hits them. But meanwhile, Chicago is sounding like the better option for many people.

Wow, that’s really unfortunate. Obviously they don’t realize, or didn’t realize when they scheduled the audition.

Does anyone know why it says closed next to all the CMU dates? I followed the link off of this thread

CMU dates are on a pdf link near the top of the page.

Chicago is looking better and better. I don’t think NYC is the place to be even the week before Super Bowl.

Jwlm - CMU dates aren’t open yet to schedule so I think that is why they say closed. It opens Oct 1. Also there is another page on CMU’s site that still has last years dates up so watch out for that.
And yes the more I think about this timing, I am starting to consider Chicago. Even though we live less than two hours from NY! In a couple weeks after Sept 1 we should have the rest of the audition dates from other schools and can make a plan.

Do you think some of the schools actually don’t realize that there is a conflict with the Super Bowl? I don’t know if it is too late to change audition dates, but maybe they would if someone brought it to their attention?

NJTheatreMOM I really think the schools set the date for the same weekend they do every year and truly didn’t realize that Super Bowl would be a conflict. I just found out a month ago that the next Super Bowl is in NYC. I think if it’s brought to their attention that they would reschedule. It’s still early enough to do so.

The Super Bowl is in NJ, not NYC, please don’t confuse the two.

Yes, we here at the Theater forum of College Confidential need to be very precise about our football.

Unifieds moved their auditions because the Superbowl is a New York team, although the game is technically in New Jersey. This was according the professor who posts over on the MT thread. They must have thought it was enough of an issue to change their weekend. I’ve been traveling into the city sometimes during games and there is a lot of back and forth from NY into Jersey for the game and then from jersey into NY for after game partying!

@Amtc HA! I refrained from pointing out the game is technically in Jersey. But the stadium is right outside of NYC so I do believe NYC hotels will be booked solid, prices raised substantially for the occasion and highways and airports extremely congested! LOL Native New Yorker here.

…and here!

We are at a college audition workshop today where Mary Anne Dennard spoke. There was a Q and A and I asked if she thinks the schools are aware of the opposing NY weekends. She said they know!
Chicago is looking like the better option…

Yup. Chicago is officially more enticing!

Juilliard dates are available… austinmtmom can you fix the list, please?

Boston University dates are also available. They aren’t posted yet but I e-mailed and asked and was told the following:
Jan 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 – Boston
Jan 30 thru Feb 2 – New York City
Feb 3 thru Feb 5 – Chicago
Feb 6 thru Feb 8 – Los Angeles
Feb 11 – Atlanta
Feb 14, 15, 21, 22 – Boston
