Average Applicant vs Accepted Student @ top schools

I'm just curious about what people feel would be considered a typical applicant or a typical accepted applicant, say, top 5, top 10, top 20 schools or whatever.

For instance, I might think that an "average" applicant to HYPS may score 2150 on the SATs, with a 3.8 GPA, while the average person accepted may score around 2250 with a 4.0 GPA

I'm not sure, I'm just asking for opinions. It's hard to generalize on anything other than numbers though.

You can find the average standardized test scores and GPA for accepted students at any college online.

It would be interesting to learn the average test scores and GPA of those not accepted.

"You can find the average standardized test scores and GPA for accepted students at any college online."

Eh, for the most part, I'm just trying to compare the two groups and get a feeling of how the competition is like.

Feel free to indicate anything other than GPA/test scores

CollegeData: College Search, Financial Aid, College Application, College Scholarship, Student Loan, FAFSA Info, Common Application gives you a small pool of that, meaning avg's for accepted, rejected, all applicants, early action/decision, etc etc. Though sadly the pool is quite small for some of them and obvioulsy it's unscientific.
