What are my chances of getting into USC, UCB, UCSB, UCLA, UCSD, Stanford, Claremont McKenna, CalPoly SLO, Occidental, Pepperdine, and Santa Clara University? I want to stay in California for my undergrad.

**yes i just did a chance thread but that was without my act score and now i would like to know with my act score hehe sorry:) THANKS IN ADVANCE ILY ALL GOOD LUCK WITH UPCOMING APPS

ACT is amazing but I have no clue if not mentioning race helps
Stanford- high reach
USC- match to high match
UCSB- low match
UCLA- match
UCSD- match
Pepperdine- low match
SCU- low match
Claremont- reach
Great list and apply to Stanford REA/SCEA or whatever option they have if its number 1.

In your earlier thread, you said:
So unless you really have an ACT score of 34, it is not appropriate to include it. As for omitting the Asian, feel free, but if your surname is obviously Asian, the AO may assume you’re Asian.

Calculate and post your UCGPA, preferably with two decimal places.
<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

im pretty sure you wont be able to tell that my last name is asian, its pretty unique. so you dont think that itll affect me badly in any way to omit race?

Just sweep the SAT under the rug and keep it hidden and I think you’re good!

You have to submit all scores to Stanford if you do apply there. That means you cannot hide your SAT score there

thats fine, stanford is a huge reach anyways haha
but thanks for the info

I thought you either had to submit either all act OR all sat scores?

Seriously, have you thought the name thing through? Your school records from a California public school wont be altered to omit your race.
I’ve worked in public high schools and everything is on your transcripts. Omitting “Asian female” wont give you a better chance of getting into a school. If anything, it may show an admissions committee that, either:

You think that the Asian label will gain an anonymity and advantage to the school (but it could show a lack of faith in yourself as a candidate and that you’re hoping to bypass their “screens”).

You are embarrassed by your culture.

What else did you “voluntarily” omit from your application?

It’s your option to not select a race, but are you sure you want to do that?
UC’s cannot use Affirmative Action to select students so in their holistic reviews, they have to pick the best candidates for their school, regardless of the race factor.

it was just a thought, i haven’t decided yet but thank you for your input
im happy to hear opinions on the matter because i really am not sure what i will do at this point

besides the race, do you have any thoughts on my chances at the schools?
i mean race cant really be that huge of a factor anyways, it wouldnt be a make or break factor i dont think haha

UCs don’t even look at your race; in fact, it’s illegal for public schools to take one’s race into consideration.
As for private schools, stating your race will NEVER hurt you. It will only help you depending on your ethnicity. Thus, include the race if you feel like it. Since your Asian it wont help you, but at least it won’t hurt you. Colleges just want to know so they can gather statistical evidence for their student profiles.

Your ACT score is good and should help with the privates. The rest of your application shows your business direction. So, I think, based on your GPA and ACT, UCSB, UCI, UCSD and the privates. Stanford needs something nationally outstanding so, that is a reach. UCLA and Berkeley are all about numbers, so probably not. Also, these high reaches expect National Merit status. Since you’re full pay and not asking for financial aid, you may get into the mid UC’s.

In your last thread (like skieurope mentioned), you said that you were taking the ACT in September.

We can’t chance you if you don’t give us real stats.
