Average class schedule

I will be transferring to UC in the fall, not sure which one but hoping for Berkeley. I have no clue as to what the average students class schedule is like at the university level. How many units are required per semester? Do most students go to class every day or can you plan out a schedule to do 3 days a week? I know there are a lot of variables, but if you guys could give me a general idea, that would be much appreciated.

at berkeley people take about 16units. minimum is 13. i think almost everybody has atleast one class a day. but people ditch classes alot so maybe you can go only 3days a week

I think if you are a serious student... you pretty much have to take class everyday because it's just so hard to plan around. It might be doable if you are a social studies major but if you are science or engineering, then it's almost impossible to have any day off since you always have lab.

It's practically impossible to go to class only 3 days a week.

15/16 units is about average (4 classes or so). I am taking 16 units and it's a fair amount
of work. It depends on your courses as well. Science classes take more studying.

I would not ditch lectures, at least not first semester.

I know someone managed to schedule all the sci/eng classes around MWF only. two days off every week!

It's not that hard to put everything on TTh if you're flexible with your schedule, honestly. I've got three day weekends every week, one afternoon class MW, and I only go to school between 11am and 3:30pm. I am, though, an English major.

I don't think most people go to class M-F, certainly many don't in my field, and if they do it tends to be fairly well paced (ie, not 8am-5pm every day). The exception will be those who take courses that involve the use of a "lab," but labs will eat your soul no matter how light your lecture schedule may be.

Hmmm, getting some mixed answers here. So im going to assume its based on your major. I'm majoring in history so I guess I might have a shot at a 3-4 day week?

Yeah, most history upper divisions do not have discussion sections so it's just 3 hours of lecture a week. I've taken my fair share of history courses here because they are really fun, although I'm not majoring in it. :(
