Average College Application Costs

I've been compiling a list of colleges for a while now, continuously adding on to and taking off some colleges on my list. So far, I have about ten colleges, and the cost comes to almost $600. It's not final, but...wow, that seems like a lot of money (Very little compared to tuition, naturally).

I know that it's different for everyone, but about how much did you (or your parents) have to pay for the college applications?

Its $60 per school right? so since most people pick about 6-10
(2/3 safe, 2/3 that your going for, 2/3 you wont get into but you should give it a try)
so on average i’d say most people spend 360-600 bucks.

The other day, I saw a $90 application fee. Since the cost of 10 colleges a lot of money for you (for me too), then you may qualify for the fee waivers? I know almost every college has 'em!

@335426607: Yeah, about $60 per school for me. Some schools have applications that are much, much cheaper. Too bad I don’t really like them…

@anothergalaxy: $90?! That’s…pretty crazy. I’m pretty sure I don’t qualify for fee waivers, unfortunately…unless the fee waivers don’t require income to be at a certain amount. The pains of being middle-class when it comes to college costs…

Well, I seem to possibly be part of the average, so that’s a relief. I’d be worried if my parents ended up spending too much money on the applications.
