<p>Word of mouth tends to say 2.9 or 3.0 for MCS, CIT, and CS. Probably 3.2 or even 3.3 for HSS and Tepper. Again, just speculation and rumor.</p>
<p>As of 2009, the average CMU-wide QPA was 3.19.</p>

<p>You can see some statistics for Greek QPA here, but to my knowledge beyond that one number the university doesn’t post averages for non-Greeks. I think mostly to curb competitiveness - the same reason CMU doesn’t do class rank.</p>
<p>I believe that these numbers are published internally, because I’ve heard professors cite certain QPA stats here and there before. However, they’re not released to the public. If you’re curious to know more your academic advisor might be able to tell you.</p>
<p>I feel at academic orientation for SCS kids (class of 2015) they cited 3.1 or 3.2 as the average GPA. It’s not that bad.</p>
