I'm going to community college for a year and my highest possible GPA I can get is a 3.75 (I got a 3 and a 2 in English 1301 and 1302 in dual credit during my senior year) but, with my luck, I can only see myself getting a 3.58 GPA. I plan on going towards the visual effects route and I'm already proficient with After Effects and have done some visual effects work in high school (though nothing I could put in a portfolio).

My question is what is the unspoken "guaranteed" GPA to be admitted into the RTF program? As far as I know the main thing UT Austin looks at is GPA and I've heard that a 3.4 can get you into the easier programs.

RTF doesn’t accept RTF credits from community colleges, you have to take all introductory level RTF classes at UT. And many of them are not restricted to the major.

It means that if you don’t get accepted into RTF program you can just transfer into UT, start taking RTF classes as an undeclared student and transfer later.

I’ve heard differently about the unspoken “guaranteed” GPA at UT on these forums. As for the transfer credits I’m not taking any RTF credits (I don’t even think any of them are offered). I’m taking basic courses such as math, humanities (RTF requires communication so I’ll have a elective credit), history, government, and my social behavior elective which should all transfer.
