Look at class standing. Holy Cross students are probably 60% in top 10% of HS class. Check Princeton Review for details. I'm not sure about GPA....

According to Peterson's Best Colleges, for the freshman class of 2006:

Acceptance rate: Holy Cross (34%)
Average GPA: Holy Cross (3.75)
% with reading SATs over 500: Holy Cross (98%)

The princeton review states that 64% of freshman are in the top 10% of their high school class.

Avg. GPA 3.71 unweighted 4.08 weighted
Avg. SAT 670 (M) 683 (CR) 658 (W)
Avg. ACT 29

wow...its much higher than i thought...

Stats required seem to be inching up each year,

That is a lot higher than I thought

College Data site info is just the average of the kids who input data on that site. This is by and large a self selecting pool.

I think average SATs last year were more in the 1300 range.

When I interviewed I was told not to submit my SAT scores unless the first two sections were at least a 1300 because it might be detrimental.

USNews online reports HC's 50% mid-range of 1210-1380.

I've heard that since the school fields 12 men's teams and 13 women's teams in division 1 and the enrollment is only 2700 that about 25% of the student body are varsity athletes: The home of Holy Cross Athletics
I assume that some of the football recruits and basketball scholarships weigh down the overall averages.

CollegeData also has admissions stats reported by the school:

Unfortunately, the shcool didn't report GPA information, but it does show freshmen SAT averages, middle 50%, and % in each 100-point range.

CLASS OF 2012 PROFILES Avg. GPA 3.69 unweighted 4.03 weighted
Avg. SAT 660 (M) 663 (CR) 661 (W)
Avg. ACT 30

Over 68% of those admitted were ranked in the top 10% of their high school graduating class with an average high school GPA of 3.67.
