I tried to locate the stats but I couldn't seem to find them. If someone has a link to the fall 2009 transfers that would be great. Personal opinions are also always great to hear.

everything depends on the major.
get above a 3.2 and you’re golden for most of them.

sign a TAG and just get over a 3.0

Does UCLA do the TAG program? That is one of the other schools that I am considering.

I believe UCLA and Berkeley are the only UCs that do not do TAG.

ok hmmm from what I understand I would need something like a 3.7 gpa to get into UCLA. What I want to do is either med school or law school. I am sure I can get a 3.7 no problem. Would it be better to transfer under a major such as Japanese and then transfer into something like bio to further strengthen my chances? These majors are just examples of course. I am not sure if this is setting myself up for bad unforeseen circumstances. Any advice on this?

you can’t quite do that…
pick your major early, work toward it fervently… along the way, you’ll figure out what it is you like and what it is that makes you want to put a razor to your wrist.
from the sound of it (“What I want to do is either med school or law school.”), you have no clue what gets your intellectual juices flowing.
take a few intro courses with IGETC in mind, and you’ll find something you like <~~ coming from a guy who wanted to be a doctor… until he took intro to bio.

the GPA you’ll need to transfer to any given school will vary dramatically according to the major. play with this: [University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/)
it’ll give you a pretty good idea of where you should be.
each school’s admissions page has added statistics. they’re more up to date, but aren’t always as detailed as statfinder info.

honestly, don’t worry too much about condemning yourself before even starting.
keep your grades up, and you’ll get to where you want to be.

ps. UCLA has TAP for most L&S majors.

lol you make a good point. That site was very helpful too so thanks for that. Honestly I think I just need to do as you say. Keep my grades up and continue searching around until I find as you say “what gets my intellectual juices flowing.” Thanks for the advice. Anyone else have anything to add to this?

Pink, I noticed that you are attending UCLA. How is it?
