average gpa to get into comm. major

what is the average gpa or the average cutoff for sophomores/juniors applying to the communications major? currently i have a 3.74 and have completed my prerequisites, but i heard that a 3.8 is "recommended". i know mine's pretty close, so it's most likely up to chance, but just wondering if anyone knows the real likelihood of getting in with a 3.7. also, if i apply in fall, when do i find out my admission results?

A 4.0 is recommended, that’s one of the most impacted majors at UCLA.

This year only 9% of transfer applicants were admitted as Communications majors, with an average gpa of 3.95 for those who were accepted.
Gooooood luck.

yes, looks like it was crazy tough this year so i was ecstatic about getting in. even w/ a 4.0 i didn’t get my hopes up that much. (had virtually no EC’s)… part of the lack of optimism of getting into the schools i applied to was probably a lot just me though lol.

as for this fall, dunno how different things will be. honestly i wouldn’t think all thaaat much different, but who knows. to stay safe and sticking to comm. if that’s the field you really want, might want to look at other schools as well. like even berkeley’s mass comm. has shown to be easier to get into.

found out my admission to comm at UCLA late April. So yeah, several months after applying… pretty standard.

sorry, just to clarify, i am not a transfer student. is it easier for non-transfers?

Wow that’s so hard…an average GPA of 3.95 is unreal.
