average gpa with kinda high sat score

What are my chances of getting into UCLA or ucsd?
I am:
Female. Indian.
GPA: 3.6 unwieghted 4.1 weighted
Planned major: biology
Would it be better to declare a different major in order to increase chances of acceptance? If I choose a major that falls under one college is it possible to change my major after two years to something that is in a different college within the university? example: change from college of biological sciences to college of letters and science?
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!!

Idk about those colleges but its usually frowned upon to apply to different schools to get in easier with the intent to switch later on. Also, how did u do on the SAT/act? and also, any extra curricular activity

You need to calculate your UC GPA, see link: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/</a>
Cannot chance you without SAT/ACT scores and a list of EC’s. Here is 2 links to UCLA’s and UCSD’s Freshman Profile for 2014. You can compare your GPA and test scores to see where you stand.

UCSD does not admit based on major but changing later on, you will have to meet the requirments for that major.
UCLA does admit by College and some colleges are harder to switch into later down the road.

Do not try to use the “back door” in getting into a major by declaring any easy major and then switching. Most Adcoms know all the tricks. UCSD will allow you to pick an alternate major, so you can pick a less impacted major than Biology as your 2nd choice.

Ok so I plan on majoring in math and later going onto med school. I got a 2060 on my sats and don’t plan on taking the acts. I probably won’t end up changing my major but rather end up keeping math and my alternate as English. How does that change my chances? Also I haven’t played any sports but I have held a few leadership positions in clubs throughout the years.

I got a 2060 and I’m not going to change my major but keep it as math and try to do premed that way because the other forums say I can major in any thing as long as my gpa is good

Your GPA and SAT scores look in-range so you do have a decent chance at both schools. It really depends upon the Stats all the other applicants also.
Do you have any Match or Safety schools on your list?

UCLA/UCSD: High Match/Low Reach

I am applying to the rest of the uc school as as well as usc which is more of a reach school. And I am also applying to csulb

I have to say UCLA is a reach, and UCSD a high match. My son had similar stats, and was not applying for an “impacted” STEM program. He was from out-of-state, and got into UCSD, but not Berkeley (which has similar acceptance rates to UCLA).

I would say UCLA is a reach, and that UCSD is a low reach. You might want to list your extracurriculars

Chance mine? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1690550-chances-for-harvard-john-hopkins-dartmouth-tufts-ill-chance-back-if-you-want.html#latest</a></p>

Ok so my extracurriculars are as follows:
Science Olympiad cofounder freshman year and president junior year. Secretary/treasurer freshman and sophomore year.
Csf life member
Key club member 3 years
Jsa Secretary junior year
Powder puff if that counts
Softball freshman year

As stated before Sat 2060 and gap 3.6 unwieghted and 4.1 weighted. Chances for any good university?
