<p>Just finished finals and I'm a bit worried about my results. What's the average GPA that freshman get at Cornell? i realize that I have 3 more years ahead to improve but I'd just like to know.</p>
<p>Also, what's a solid GPA if I want to go to a master's Psychology or linguistics program after graduation?</p>

<p>From what I’ve heard, you just take a bunch of intro classes freshman year, which should be that hard. Like writing seminar, stuff like that.
But ya I want to know this as well.</p>
<p>The classes you take depend on your college, major and personal interests. I would imagine GPA’s vary widely from major to major, and even college to college.</p>
<p>A solid GPA is a 4.3. This shows that you are very well educated in your field of study.</p>

<p>what Islander4 said. the overall average doesn’t mean that much to you. I would guess that above a 3.0 is something realistic to shoot for, as a lot of grad schools have a cut-off at 3.0. but if you’re well above that, it’s excellent.
also, if it makes any difference, my GPA is current more than 0.2 higher than it was after freshman year (and I still had some grade issues in sophomore year.) there is a ton of time for it to improve, and the math is such that your later classes can have a substantial effect.</p>
<p>Just do as well as you can in your classes ahead of you (as well as your class rank).</p>

<p>That’s the maximum GPA Cornell allows… I hardly doubt that that’s the average GPA.</p>
<p>As for me, I have below a 3.0 GPA in the College of Engineering. I just wrapped up freshmen year myself, if that makes you feel any better. I’d say don’t worry too much about this year. You have time to make it up.</p>
