Intended Major: Political Science

Schools:
Florida State University (Dream/number one school)
University of Central Florida
University of Central Arkansas (ultimate fallback)
Cal State Long Beach
Cal Poly Pomona
University of Georgia
San Diego State University

If anyone has any suggestions for other schools for me to consider, feel free to post them. I'd prefer if the schools were in the Southeast or California and near a large/major city.

Appreciate the hat tip. Let’s see now…

Weighted GPA is good enough, although I’m not sure if FL and CA public schools weight grades the same way. If they do, you’re a strong candidate for the CSU schools on your list as well as Central Florida and FSU.

Legacy will help at Georgia.

Now, that SAT is problematic. It’ll need to be around a 1750+ for any of your targets, but you could get a bump in California-- because the UC/CSU programs have had funding slashed by Governor Brown, they favor nonresidents and the hefty tuition that they can charge accordingly.

Bottom line is, I think you’ve got a good shot-- if your essays and personal statement are strong, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get in. Best of luck to you!

@strangebro Thanks for the insight!

Add University of Texas to Schools list.

bump

we have very similar stats except i basically have no extracurricular activities haha. and i did slightly worse than you on the sat’s haha 1500. im retaking it so hopefully we can both raise our scores. i think your best bets are long beach and pomona, but with a higher SAT you could get into the others

Looks like there is someone who is similar to me on CC after all. bump

Texas is a reach as they are very tough on out of staters. Maybe University of Tampa and UNCC. Best of luck!

Texas will be very tough, especially because they are only about 6% out of state. I would try Auburn, Alabama, Clemson or South Carolina. Also see how you do onACT and then retake whichever test you do better on you might be stronger on ACT than SAT.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! bump
