for all you instate emory people, what would you say the AVG SAT is? do you think i have a chance in state if i visit the campus with a 1370 and a 3.5?

bump................

Emory is a private school and so in-state is irrelevant. If anything, being local would hurt you because they are looking to get more of a national presence. A 1370 SAT and 3.5 would not make it impossible but it might be a reach unless you have a hook. Use your essays and EC's to stand out. Show interest in the school such as going to presentations and visiting.

haha i've heard like so many differing instate opinions it's getting confusing. Some people say emory does look at instate more and some say it doesnt. Does anyone know for sure 100%! I know that emory is a pvt school but a lot of private schools prefer instate. Does anyone know how it is for emory specifically?

If anything Emory would probably want LESS instate students to provide more national/international diversity. On the record it makes no difference because Emory is a private school, not a public like Ga Tech.

haha as u can see noone is 100 percent sure. but put it this way i was just admmitted this year out of state and i have seen that many students hail from georgia probably more than any other state with ny and florida very close. the reason prob. is that it is more well know in georgia then places like say missouri or idaho with no offense intended. because of being more well known more will appply and there is a good cahnce that emory will seclect more but that doesnt mean lower caliber students are being taken. it is prob the sasme percentage of students as many of the other states. keepin mind i am not 100 percent sure of this

hahaha thanks for the info :)!
