Average Joe.. chances for UCs/USC?

<Empty imported post>

Schools to consider (ones i'm concerned about, not only applying to these): USC (My brother goes there now if that helps..), UC San Diego, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, Occidental College

I'm an international student in an extremely competitive school. I have California residency, but supposedly I can only get the in-state tuition; I'm still an out-of-state applicant (I THINK) because I'm an American citizen.

Unweighted GPA: 3.48 (UC GPA should be a lot higher because I got a 3.1 freshmen year 1st semester (which doesn't count toward UC gpa) and my AP classes are out of 4.0)

Difficult Classes that may count as a bonus in weighting:

Junior Year:
AP Economics (micro/macro) (Grade A-)
AP English Language and Composition (Grade: B)
AP Computer Science (Grade B+)
(Took AP Chinese Exam because I'm in a Chinese level equivalent to IB HL B Y1)
Honors Pre-Calc (Grade: A-)

Senior (I'm a rising senior):
AP Chemistry
AP Calc-BC
AP Psych

AP scores thus far:
- AP Econ Micro: 5
- AP Econ Macro: 5
- AP English Language and Composition: 5
- AP Computer Science: 3
- AP Chinese: 5
(So I get the AP scholar with distinction award)

Total AP Exams taken (after graduation): 8

SAT: 2010 (710M 660W 640R)
SAT II:
Math IIc (retaking, got 700 first time for not studying..)
Chemistry (Yet to be taken)
Chinese (Yet to be taken, though I can say with confidence its an 800)

ECA (sorry very pathetic):
3 years of basketball (1 year of varsity, won MIP)
4 years of volleyball (will have the 4th, won MVP in 9th)
2 years of Athletic Council (Secretary of senior year)
1 H4H trip worth.. 40hrs of service i think (1 week trip)

Erm, I'm new so i'm not sure if this is sufficient enough.. but YEAH.

Help and responses will be appreciate

bump... help would be appreciated

Are you an American-born Chinese? How come you are taking Chinese?
USC? uhm..sure, I think you can make it!

Yeah, I'm a US citizen. My first language is English lol.

Considering your UC GPA > 3.9

UCSD: 75%
USC: 40-50%
UCLA: 35-60%
UCB: 35-50%
UCI - 83%

Hm. UC GPA is about 3.85, without including my honor's math cause I'm not sure if that's going to be counted. Thank you for the response =D

It would help to know for sure whether you are in-state, out of state, or international. In your original post you said that you're all of the above! If you have CA residency (meaning you have lived here for the past x years - I forget the #) and are a US citizen then you should be considered an in-state applicant. If that's the case I'll say that you're in at Irvine and Occidental..and should be in at SD. LA and Berk are reaches. If you're OOS or International then SD becomes more of a reach and Irvine isn't quite as much of a sure thing.

Hey, the thing is given the history of my school's applicants, who had everything they needed to be considered residents, it really does not seem like I'm going to be in-state. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be considered OOS, but I'll get in-state tuition like previous applicants, (one of whom is my brother). But I'm still trying to argue for in-state application, because I think my dad's still a California resident, given the fact they call him up for jury duty.. and I won't be 18 when I apply. But for now I'll settle with the fact I'm OOS.

Thanks for the response though ^^
