Average MIT social week?

Okay so here's my perception of MIT:
Monday - friday: Study and work hard in school
Saturday - sunday: study and work hard in school. Is this how it is? I'm down with that but what do mit kids do for fun?

Well, no, not generally. Even in my craziest semesters, I always took Friday and Saturday nights to hang out with my friends and have fun, whether that meant ordering a pizza and watching a DVD in the dorm, or going to a party, or going out into Boston. And even during the week, quite a bit of socializing got done while I “studied and worked hard in school” – most nights I’d do my problem sets while eating dinner and watching TV in the dorm lounge with my friends.

What people do for fun varies quite a bit across campus, and you can be fairly well assured that, whatever you like to do for fun, you will be able to find a group of people who also like to do that.

Regardless, though, everybody takes time off. MIT is a college, not a monastery – the goal is both to work hard and to have fun in the process.
