Hello, I was just wondering if anyone familiar with hiring new grads in engineering had any idea what the average number of internships/co-ops an applicant would have on their resume would be?

I just would like an idea of where I fit in.

Probably 1-2. It’s uncommon for people to get internships between freshman and sophomore year, it’s somewhat common between sophomore and junior year, it’s very common between junior and senior year.

If you’ve done something else productive during your summers, like research for instance, it’s not as problematic for finding a job than if you just screwed around for all your summers in college.

Well I pretty much just screwed around between my freshman and sophomore year, outside of some community college courses, haha.

But yeah I’ll graduate with 3 so that makes me feel better

So are you from Ann Arbor?

Yeah, I’m in my 3rd year here

Having 3 co-ops under your belt is great! Good luck.
