average psat score for a national merit scholar semi-finalist and finalist?

im taking the psat soon and want to know what score i need to be a semi-finalist and finalist of the psat

There a ton of existing threads on this topic. The cut-off is determined state by state and they vary A LOT … from about 200 to about 225 depending on the state. Where do you live?

Why is this in What Are My Chances?

Anyways, to answer your question, pretty much what 3togo said. Hopefully you live in a rural state and not on the coasts. New England/California=cutoffs in the 220s or high 210s, South/Midwest=low 210s or high 200s, Plains=200s

It depends a lot on where you live; they can range anywhere from the low 200’s (Arkansas, South Dakota, West Virginia) to the mid-220’s (Maryland, Massachusetts, Washington D.C.)

Here’s a link to the scores for 2014: http://publicuniversityhonors.com/2013/12/11/psat-national-merit-scholar-qualifying-scores-and-sat-equivalencies-by-state/</a>

live in maryland

Well in MD you have to score amazingly to be a National Merit Semifinalist… so good luck!!!
